Do you ever wonder why the Lord created us with 2 ears, 2 eyes, 2 nostrils and 1 mouth, etc.? Why not the exact opposite?
After meditating on James 1:19-22, which reads: "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.", it dawned on me as to why.
I was having to explain to my arrows because...well, we were just having one of those days. We have 2 ears because we are to LISTEN twice as much we are 2 speak. We have 2 nostrils so we can smell twice as much as we taste, 5 fingers on each hand, and 2 eyes so we can determine better as to what may or may not be good for our own well being. I then had my arrows do a bit of an experiment. I had them cover their ear, and their nostril. I asked them which was easier. hearing with one ear...or 2. I did the same with the nostril. "Which is easier? Smelling with one nostril...or 2? To both questions, they replied that having both nostrils and ears was easier. Would we want to put something in our mouth that was nasty tasting or sweet? Sweet, of course. I then explained that God gave us more than one for a reason. I then took it a step farther. We are to have a quiet and calm spirit. If we are interruptive, loud, and speak over each other, we are not going to be able to hear what the Lord has to say either. That is why it is important to:
"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalms 46:10
For His words are sweet.
So, my dear friends...
Listen. Hear.
