Why do we, for those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ, get weighed down with unbelief and worry? Despite having the knowledge that our King of Kings is in control and provides for our every need!?
The other day, I was chatting with a high school friend of mine, and we were just...well, doing life, and were comparing notes on what we were struggling with. I expressed to her that I was disheartened, but God reminded me that although He provides more than what we deserve at times, HE ALWAYS provides what we need. We are worth more than than the birds of the air. (Matthew 6:25-34)
So, to answer the aforementioned question....
"Why do we, for those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ, get weighed down with unbelief and worry? Despite having the knowledge that our King of Kings is in control and provides for our every need!?"...
We are human. We are like the disciple, Peter. What happened when he took his eyes off of Jesus when he was walking on the water. He started to sink. (Matthew 14:22-33). Despite Peter's faith being amazing, compared to that of the other disciples who dared not try to walk on water to Jesus, his faith, like ours at times, lasted only a moment. Because Peter started to focus in on the winds and the waves, he allowed that to grab his attention, which in turn, took his attention from where it was, causing him to sink. However, Jesus was there, and when Peter cried out for help, Jesus rescued him from drowning.
What does this prove?
1) When we take our eyes off Jesus, that decision leads us down a path that...to say the least...is not good or healthy.
2) When we turn our eyes upon Jesus, He is always there waiting and watching for us to just come as we are. (Deuteronomy 31:6-8)
I realize it is easier said than done, but...
1) Keep your eyes focused upwards.
2) Keep stepping out on and in faith.
If you don't know my Jesus personally, but you want to....
All you have to do is...
1) Admit you are a sinner.
2) Believe that Jesus died for your sins.
3) Confess with your mouth that He ALONE is your Lord and Savior.
One does not have to have a fancy prayer. Just talk to the Lord like you would a family member or friend. Say what is on your heart. Jesus is there waiting, watching, and ready to listen to, and accept whoever is heavy burdened. (Matthew 11:28-30)
Why? Because Jesus CARETH for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
